April 19, 2022
April could be called a month of renewing, reawakening and looking towards growth. This month is filled with all of those through... Passover. Easter. Spring Vacations. Rain Showers. It also gives us Earth Day (April 22). What more could we be grateful for everyday when you can surround yourself with nature, be filled with joy and live your best life.
EARTH DAY - FRIDAY, APRIL 22
More and more, individuals are looking to make sustainable changes to their everyday routine to drive toward greener living year-round.
While it will never be a perfect sustainable world, every little bit on a daily basis helps. Here are 7 simple ways. PS: #3 - Sustainable Gifting.
The Hug Box has always been sustainable in its packaging using only recycled, recyclable and repurposed materials and sourced from local and locally made materials and products. And the least amount of materials are used as possible when creating the package and for delivery.
The products in the Hug Boxes are made by local artisans, many whom practice sustainable handmade methods using local, natural materials and ingredients. Some also have sustainable packaging.
The Hug Box shop is also mostly furnished with repurposed tables and displays that were purchased from local nonprofit businesses and refurbished for the shop. The Hug Box shop is about being authentic to its brand. The gift that gives back in so many ways.
The Hug Box shop itself is filled with local artisan goods and gifts. We are an all year round local artists market. There are so many creative people in every community - all that you could want or ask for is right there in your backyard.
And on a personal note, at home, I enjoy having a garden, composting, recycling and also repurposing. And I'm the crazy one that saves all of the birthday and Christmas gift bags and tissue paper and uses it again.
LOCAL COMMUNITY and EARTH SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS
Since the Hug Box is located in Newnan, Georgia, we'd like to highlight a couple of local Earth Loving organizations.
Keep Newnan Beautiful
UPCOMING KEEP NEWNAN BEAUTIFUL EVENTS
FRIDAY APRIL 22 - POP UP LITTER PICK UP
SATURDAY APRIL 23 - ELECTRONICS RECYCLING
Also, since the tornado hit the Historical Downtown Newnan and beyond a little over a year ago now, many of the historical town's hundred year old beautiful, astounding, wildlife refuge, shade baring, oxygen giving trees were pummeled to sticks. There is a small organization called Plant Newnan. Plant Newnan’s vision is to restore the city’s canopy from the tornado of 2021. They are putting in place a sustainable planting program through public and private partnerships, educational experiences and to inspire future generations.
