The flowers are starting to bloom, leaves are sprouting, the days are becoming longer and the chill is coming and going and soon to be gone. Daylight Savings is Sunday, March 10th (so spring forward an hour and hope you adjust alright!) The first day of Spring is March 19th. Easter is early this year, Sunday, March 31st. And we can't forget St. Patrick's Day on March 17th. March is a month of celebration of life!
As seasons change, get ready for celebrations and surprises with the Hug Box! We're celebrating 10 years in May!
With this celebration, comes news as well. The bittersweet decision has been made to close the retail space as of Saturday, May 24th. Towards the end of 2023, it weighed on my heart and it was finally made clear. Over the last 6 years, it has been such a joy to become a part of the community of Newnan, Georgia. Opening up the warm, friendly little shop on the corner (13 West Washington) in 2018 was a dream come true along with continuing the venture with my lovely friend Laura (Newnan Book Company) at her growing space for the last 2 years. The quaintness of the Hug Box space led to many heartfelt conversations with customers, local and visiting, artisans, fellow business owners - the community. I loved designing a space for creative minds. When people came in and confirmed my mission of the Hug Box shop and the concept of the Hug Box - it meant a great deal to me and kept me moving forward. Through exciting and challenging times (pandemic closing) watching the artisans grow, the space grow, the customer base grow and connections grow was so fulfilling. And I am looking forward to the continued growth.
I am grateful for the blessings through the Hug Box with each season and for everyone that supported my little huggable shop over the years. The one thing I will miss greatly is seeing everyone (and the doggies) daily, weekly or once a month to catch up or get a hug. I hope that after this transition occurs to be even more involved in the community and to continue to see everyone out and about (and hopefully chat when you want to send a Hug Box!) As with many small businesses, and especially if it is run by a solopreneur, there comes a time when change is calling. And God has helped me to realize that it's time for me to simplify my life and to focus more on family, to dive into my creativity and work through to new purposes as well as continue working with my artisan friends and sending hugs!
BUT DON'T WORRY! The Hug Box is continuing to SEND HUGS! Its commitment to its timeless values and missions remains the same. Thehugbox.com will be enhanced with even easier and more options with online orders, shipping across the US and local deliveries around town! Filled with happiness curating gift boxes always with heartwarming themes, natural and handmade professional local artisan, small business and nonprofit products with a larger selection for the Build a Hug Box section. Our creative endeavors persist as we engage in collaborations with the talented local artisans and small businesses to curate exclusive items for the Hug Box gifts. We are also expanding our bulk custom gift box offerings for wedding and special event packages and business gifting.
