Hug the Earth

April 16, 2021

The Hug Box loves the earth.

HUG THE EARTH | APRIL 22 | EARTH DAY

We love sending hugs, hugging our community and the earth. With every Hug Box order online and at the shop during Earth Day week (April 18-24), we will be donating 10% of sales to a local nonprofit, Keep Newnan Beautiful to continue the clean up after the tornado disaster that hit our community March 26th and to plan for future trees! Send a hug and hug a tree!

One of the missions of the Hug Box from the beginning was to offer only local artisan goods, that are as sustainable as possible (and choose artisans that also support social causes). This means they use materials and ingredients for their products and/or any necessary packaging.in some or all of the following categories: locally-derived, small-batch, handmade, organic, natural, fair-trade, recycled/repurposed  We strive to stay on brand and offer happy and healthy gifts. While it is not a perfectly sustainable world we live in, every little bit can make a difference. Education and daily practices on sustainability are forever molded in our brand. We find joy in providing an easy and meaningful solution for our customers in the gifting and retail world and to be a part of that difference.

Simple and Sustainable Packaging

The Hug Box and Artisan Goods

When I conceptualized the Hug Box, one of my missions was to create packaging that was clean, simplistic, colorful and happy and be as sustainable as possible. Being a graphic designer, I wanted to go all out with a printed box and on and on, but I was limited back then with options available in the sustainable process. I also wanted the receiver to have a gifting experience and not just a mailer box. With many trials, I finally ended up with the current Signature Hug Box. All of the elements of the Hug Box are sourced locally, in the US and are made with recycled materials, are recyclable, and/or reusable. That includes our gift boxes, ribbon, shreds, tissue paper, mailer box, notecards, envelopes, stickers and our local artisan-made Hug Box tag/magnet. We send our Hug Boxes reusing artisan’s product packing material and homemade recycled shreds.

We print our notecards, envelopes, and more in-house, but when we do have to source out we use printers that use only papers affiliated with the Sustainable Forest Initiative and waterless printing technology.

We love and respect our earth and thank you for sending hugs to be a part of the mission.
